Dallas schools’ interesting new policy

Read this frightening story in the Dallas Morning News about the Dallas Independent School District’s new grading policy.
“But Dr. Hinojosa [the Superintendent] asked teachers and parents to consider that in the long run the rules will help more students succeed.”
Bullshit. Maybe in the limited world of their report cards, but not in real life.
“Our mission is not to fail kids,” the Superintendent is quoted as saying in the article. But, assuming the strict definition of fail being to give an f, failing kids is indeed part, though certainly not all, of their mission. Certainly its not something a teacher wants to do. It’s not something a teacher likes to do. Here’s the thing that nobody wants to say – some students deserve an F, bigger than Dallas.
And to think, I went to school only two school districts over from Dallas.
